The design of Oriental Mood is inspired by the natural water bodies of Jiangnan Water Garden. The existing building's first floor showcases the rhythm and interest of a "water garden" with residential buildings and trees surrounding a central pool. This design takes "water" as its first element, creating a space that is both tranquil and dynamic.
The uniqueness of this design lies in its ability to capture a moment in nature and insert it into a static architectural space. The emotion of space is often hidden in the details and in the depth of time. Haochen Su has managed to engrave the design language in time, stimulating heterogeneous feelings and experiences. The quality of architecture lies in poetry and beauty, as well as details and perfection.
The realization of this design was made possible through the use of various materials such as metal board, rock board, ceramic tile, copper board, wood veneer, and gypsum board. The project area spans 1400 square meters, providing ample space for the design to unfold its narrative.
The design process began with the concept scheme and indoor plane scheme, followed by the facade space scheme and facade space effect drawing. Construction drawings were then drawn up, leading to the final construction. The project started in April 2019 in Shanghai and was completed in August 2020.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was the boldness and respect required for the design of the owners. The implementation process also involved the use of many new ideas. Despite these challenges, Haochen Su and his team were able to create a residential space that is both novel and natural, with a bold color material collision.
In conclusion, Oriental Mood is a testament to Haochen Su's ability to capture the essence of nature and translate it into architectural design. This design not only provides a unique residential space but also contributes to the ongoing dialogue between nature and architecture. The design's success is evident in its recognition with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
